Camo Jacket + Gingham

a.n.a Camo Jacket (only $14.99!), Topshop Gingham Shirt, Old Navy Jeans, BaubleBar Lariat Necklace, Style & Co Booties

Since it's been freezing cold and snowy here, I am now dreaming about some outfits I can wear when it starts to warm up. I think this camo jacket would be the cutest Spring jacket. I paired it with a gingham top for some fun pattern mixing. Even though I wear white jeans year round, they look really fresh in the spring (plus they just don't work well with dirty snow on the ground!).

Thankfully, I have some hope this weekend, weather-wise. It's supposed to be in the upper 40s! Hello heat wave!

Look What I Got: Old Navy Polka Dot Jeans

Vest-Zara Girls (similar Swell Faux Fur Vest), Scarf-Forever 21 (similar Ralph Lauren Plaid Scarf), Sweater-Banana Republic (similar Old Navy Sweater), Old Navy Polka Dot Jeans, Booties-Target (similar Aldo Booties)

I like to check the girls' sections when I'm shopping, since there's often hidden gems in there for petites. I found these girls' polka dot jeans at Old Navy, originally $24.94 on clearance for $8.49! If you're wondering, they're still a little long on me so yes, I'm basically shorter than a 5th grader.

Military Vest + Cable Knit Sweater

Sweater-Forever 21 (similar Forever 21 Cable Knit Sweater for $16.99), JCPenney Military Vest ($14.99), Belt-Asos (similar Dorothy Perkins Leopard Belt for $9), Old Navy Jeans, Booties-Target (similar Aldo Booties)

Random Wednesday Thoughts:

1. This outfit was inspired by a look that Alissa wore. I just love getting inspiration from other bloggers and it worked out perfectly that I already had all the items in my closet!

2. Every week that I watch The Bachelor, I like Juan Pablo less and less. I got really annoyed when he decided he wasn't going to kiss any more of the girls for the sake of his daughter (like it matters after kissing 6 of them!) and then made out with Clare anyway. Such a hypocrite!

3. It's freezing cold here (again) so I'm loving soup for dinner. The other night I made Tomato Tortellini Soup (I use 1 can of tomato soup, 1 cup of milk, and ditch the half and half). It was delish with some Italian bread!

Valentine's Day Gifts Under $50

Top Row: Olive Yew Initial Necklace, Ted Baker Tablet Case, Forever 21 Pajama Set
Bottom Row: Lauren Conrad Love Bangle (only $10!), Ciate Manicure Set, Vince Camuto Bow Belt

Now that we're nearing the end of January, it's time to start thinking about Valentine's Day gifts. Let's face it, not everyone can afford diamonds as a gift. Flowers are a popular choice, but I'm not a huge fan of them since they only last a few days. Plus, I'd rather get something more personal. So, I put together some gifts that are cute, under $50, and you can still use/wear long after the holiday is over.

Which gift is your favorite? What kind of gift do you like to receive for V Day?

Plaid Shirt + Striped Cardigan

Cardigan-Gap (similar JCPenney Striped Cardigan for $14.99), Shirt-American Eagle (similar Olive & Oak Plaid Shirt), Scarf-Scarves.net (similar Nasty Gal Infinity Scarf for $10), Old Navy Rockstar Jeans, Boots-Bakers (similar Aeropostale Boots)

We got more snow on Saturday, thankfully just another inch. But the streets and sidewalks have been a mess since the big storm last Tuesday. I'll be honest, I haven't been able to wear anything other than my Uggs all week. Sooo, the boots I'm wearing here I only had on for the sake of the photos. Also if you follow me on Instagram, I originally paired this outfit with my red scarf. But it just wasn't warm enough, so I swapped it for the knit infinity scarf instead. As the winter goes on, selecting an outfit is getting harder and harder!

For Mix It Mondays, I am remixing my plaid shirt. I decided to pair it with my grey striped cardigan, a piece I don't wear that often. The cold weather has me reaching for the same warm pieces over and over again, so I'm trying to challenge myself to give the other clothes in my wardrobe some love.

Here's how I last wore my plaid shirt:

Closet Must Have: Vests!

Dillard's Faux Fur Vest (in the girls section for my petites!), Land's End Puffer Vest!), JCPenney Military Vest (only $14.99), Delia's Denim Vest

Let's talk about the 4 vests I consider to be closet must haves!

1. The Faux Fur Vest: This is an essential layering piece to get through a cold winter. Not only is in warm, but it is super chic. It can be dressed down with a sweater and button down, or dressed up paired with leather leggings and heels.

2. The Puffer Vest: Warm and cozy, the puffer vest adds another layer of warmth to a casual outfit. I love one in basic black, or try one in a fun texture or print like tweed, herringbone, or plaid.

3. The Cargo Vest: Inspired by the military trend, the cargo vest can be worn throughout the year. It pairs well with everything from sweater dresses in the winter to denim shorts in the summer. Try this one with jeweled detailing for a girly touch.

4. The Denim Vest: It's the denim jacket's sleeveless cousin. I love layering it in the summer with a flowy maxi dress or in the fall with a plaid shirt or printed tee. It gives a casual feel to any look.

Have a great weekend, guys!

Faux Fur + Mint Jeans

Asos Faux Fur Snood, Top-Gap (similar Old Navy Striped Tee for $10), Jeans-Target (similar Buffalo Jeans), Booties-Target (similar Forever 21 Booties), Bag-Forever Tiff Couture (similar New York & Co Quilted Crossbody), Clover Bracelet-Sweet Clover

Random Wednesday Thoughts:

1. Keeping it real...this outfit is one that I think worked better in my head than it actually does on. But I'm posting it anyway, even though I don't love it.

2. I'm still watching The Bachelor, even though Juan Pablo's controversial comments really do not sit well with me. So far I think the season is kind of boring, but I'm hoping it will become the reality train wreck I know and love.

3. We got yet another snowstorm yesterday. Thanks for the reminder Mother Nature, that we still have a long way to go before this winter is over. Goodbye cute shoes, I'll miss you while I'm wearing snow boots day in and day out.

4. I've added some more items to the Shop My Closet section, including a bunch of statement necklaces. I may be adding more items this week so keep checking!

Look For Less: Kate Hudson Style

Since I got such a great response to the celeb style post last week, I'm going to put it into regular rotation on the blog. Today I'm recreating a look by Kate Hudson at the Sundance Film Festival (seen here with Zach Braff).

Her cozy and casual look is something I would definitely wear on a snowy winter day (also perfect for Park City!)...a chambray shirt layered under a warm sweater, faux fur hat, and cute snow boots.

Mix It Mondays: Target Tweed Vest

Tee-Forever 21 (similar Old Navy Striped Tee), Vest-Target (similar Old Navy Tweed Vest),  Jeans-Target (similar Old Navy Rockstar Jeans), Scarf-Amazon (similar Dorothy Perkins Leopard Scarf), Boots-Nordstrom (similar Steve Madden Intyce Boots)

This weekend I went shopping at the mall for the first time in quite a while. (I was avoiding it during the holiday madness!). Every single store I went into was having major clearance sales. I tried on a bunch of things, but I only went home with one item. It's not because the clothes didn't fit, or I didn't like them, but I realized I'm more selective about my purchases. Now I try to think about what is missing from my wardrobe and if I really need an item versus just wanting it.

Today I'm remixing my Target tweed vest, which has become such a versatile piece in my wardrobe. Here's some of the other ways I've worn it:

Cute Winter Hats

Top Row: C. Wonder Polka Dot Hat//Prana Tassel Beanie//Kate Spade Bow Knit Hat
Bottom Row: Dorothy Perkins Leopard Beanie//Dorothy Perkins Pom Pom Hat//Topshop Fair Isle Beanie

The winter always puts me in a bit of a funk, fashion wise. After months of wearing coats, boots, and sweaters, it gets kind of old. I'm already counting down the days till Spring (61 to go!).

But since we've got quite a bit longer to go, why not wear a cute winter hat to spice up your outfit? Hot pink, polka dots, leopard print...all fun cures for the winter blues!

Which hat is your favorite? How do you fight the winter fashion blues?

Look What I Got: Gold Tassel Necklace

Sweater-Forever 21 (similar Old Navy Crewneck Sweater), Shirt-H&M (similar Gap Gingham Shirt), eBay Gold Tassel Necklace, Old Navy Rockstar Jeans, Boots-Nordstrom (similar Steve Madden Intyce Boots), Bag-Philip Lim for Target

I really wanted a gold tassle necklace after seeing the trend on so many bloggers. I found this one on eBay for just $12.99. It looks exactly like the Bauble Bar Lariat Necklace , but theirs is selling for $36. If you're looking for a tassle necklace, I don't think you'll find one cheaper! (and it arrived just two days after I ordered it).
