This Friday will be my last day at my current job. On Monday I'll be starting a new job that has better pay and better benefits. I'm really excited about it, but I'm not sure yet how it will affect blogging.  For the last three years, my job has been part time and I was home by 3 pm. My new job will be full time, so I will have a lot less free time than I did before to devote to my blog (and still have a personal life!). I plan to continue blogging, but it may mean less posts per week. As I adjust to my new job and a new schedule, I'll see how things go.

How do you manage to balance blogging, a job, and your personal life?

  1. Congratulations to your new job! So exciting! I have very little time blogging during the week. It reduces to 30-45min in the mornings and nights to catch up with emails and other blogs. The toughest part for me is to find that window when the sun is still up and my husband is off work to get some outfit shots.

  2. Congrats on the new gig, it just about balance and careful planning as I don't have lots of free time.

  4. congrats! it is HARD to do. I am always about 100 emails behind. I think I need to reduce posting from 5 to 3 or something.

  5. Congrats on the new job! It is a tough balance, I try to do a lot on the weekends so I can just read during the week. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, you'll find what works for you.

  6. Finding that balance really is so hard, and I think it takes a lot of trial and error honestly. I like to have a set, specific time to do everything (otherwise I'll either never get it done...or spend way too much time on things.)

Congratulations on your new job!! That is fantastic!!!

    PS>..this outfit is amazing!!

  7. I love this outfit-it'd be great for a weekend lunch date. I have been blogging full time for three years and work from home while I care for my 3 boy under 8...for me the key to staying ahead of blogging is to create an editorial calendar and plan out my posts in advance. That way I can see what I need to accomplish in one swoop at anytime and it helps me to get a lot done in little time. Hope that helps a bit-found you through The Pleated Poppy!

  8. Congrats on the new job!! You will do great. Honestly, it's hard to balance. I am down to two posts a week, and I try to do those on Sunday and then schedule everything. I also try to not put pressure on myself. There are a lot of other things I love to do besides blogging. Balance is an ever-changing goal.

Your hair looks adorable, and I LOVE that dress!!!

  9. Congratulations on your new job! That's so great! Finding the balance between blogging and life can be tough. We are lucky to have two people running the blog, so that makes it a bit easier. You'll find a schedule that works for you, I'm sure. We will be here reading whenever you post!
P.S. I love your dress! So cute.

  16. Congrats on the new gig! I have a longer commute and longer hours at my current job than the one when I first started blogging, and it definitely affected my blog a little. But not in a terrible way- you dont have to post every day, etc. Just do what you have time for!

  17. I have a lot of downtime at my current job (what a problem right?) so that helps me keep up with blogging, but I know that doesn't work for everyone! I hope you are able to find a good balance! Congrats on the new job!

  22. I honestly have no idea how I balance things, but it just seems to fit! I think it's good to have priorities--obviously family, work and free time come before blogging. Don't stress! You'll find your groove! And congrats on the new job! How exciting! I love this pretty polka dot dress too!

i'm still trying to find a good balance between blogging and life.. it's tough b/c i want to excel at everything i do but for some reason, expanding my blog has been pretty difficult and discouraging. It's been a slow ride but i'm still trying to push forward without it distracting my personal life.. yep, definitely a tough balance. xoxo

  39. Congratulations, Sharon!! I'm so excited for you! It's going to take a little getting used to a new schedule, so if you need to take some breaks we'll completely understand. It's tough posting every single day. Scheduling posts definitely helps though. Good luck on your first day!

  41. Wow! Well congrats on getting the new job :) I love what you're wearing in this post. This dress looks super cute on you.

And yes...blogging is difficult when you have minimal time on your hands. I don't always have time to take pictures. When I do have time, finding the right lighting can be tough.

  49. So happy for you Sharon! Blog when you can. Always do what's best for you! I'm down to two days a week. I may go up to 3 days around Fall. It depends on my schedule.

  50. I've realized that in order to keep my sanity, I can't blog as much as I would like or put that pressure on myself. I try to blog 2-3 times a week and sometimes I do and sometimes I can't . I'd like to think my readers are understanding. It's definitely been a little harder with a new baby in the mix!

Hope you have a great 1st week at work!
