Look What I Got: Old Navy Jeweled Sweatshirt + Giveaway

Old Navy Embellished Sweatshirt, Shirt-Target (similar New York & Co Chambray Shirt), Old Navy Rockstar Jeans, Flats-Gap Kids Outlet (similar Chinese Laundry Gwynne Flats)

This Old Navy jeweled sweatshirt was originally $29.94, on sale for $16.99. I had a 40% off coupon, bringing the grand total to $10.20! I love that the jeweled detailing is like a built in statement necklace. It is super comfy, yet still dressy. It feels like wearing pajamas at work, but without looking like a hot mess. Move over, Snuggie Sweater, you've been replaced.

Today is the 50th Look What I Got Link Up! To celebrate, Tara and I have an ad space giveaway for you. Enter using the Rafflecopter below.

PS Happy Halloween! I'm not dressing up, but the dogs will be!

Plaid + Faux Fur

Plaid Dress-c/o Front Row Shop, Vest-Zara Girls (similar Forever 21 Faux Fur Vest), Bag-Forever Tiff Couture (similar Nordstrom Quilted Crossbody Bag), Boots-Nordstrom (similar Nine West Riding Boots)

I got these leather riding boots last year and I wore them to death. I'm not sure if you can tell, but the right boot still looks brand new and for some reason, the leather has faded on the left boot. Any suggestions on what products to use to restore the leather?

Also, I never know what color tights to wear with these cognac boots. I decided to go with grey today and I'm happy with the way it looks. What other color tights would you wear with them?

Fall Fashion Trend: Over the Knee Boots

Top Row: Aldo Bracknella Boots//Chinese Laundry Southland Boots//Mia Pyramid Boots
Bottom Row: ModCloth Something To Talk About Boots//Charles By Charles David Beyond Boots//

Over the Knee boots are back in this year! I love this trend, but I think there's a fine line between looking trendy and looking like a hooker (Pretty Woman, anyone?). I prefer these as flat boots since the heeled versions can be tricky to pull off.

If you're petite you may be wondering if you can wear this trend. I say yes! My tip is to wear tights/pants the same color as your boots (mine are black) so your legs appear longer.

In other news, one year ago today the Jersey shore was being ravaged by Superstorm Sandy (click to read my post after the storm). Tonight I'll be participating in Light Up New Jersey to commemorate the anniversary.

PS Happy birthday to my mom!

Grey + Gingham

Mossimo V Neck Sweater, Shirt-H&M (similar Gap Gingham Shirt), Necklace-F21, Old Navy Rockstar Jeans, Philip Lim for Target Bag {giveaway win}, Target Kaelyn Booties

This grey sweater and gingham shirt combo is pretty much my fall weekend uniform. Sweater plus a button down equals easy layering. It is getting chilly here in Jersey and layers are a must!

I am absolutely IN LOVE with my new Philip Lim for Target bag (I won it thanks to a giveaway). There is nothing like a big bag to tote around all my stuff. You name it, and I probably have it in my bag. I think I could probably even fit my puggle Oliver in there if I wanted to! (Don't worry Olls, I'm kidding).

High Five for Friday

1. Thanks to a giveaway from Stilettos & Sequins, I'm now the owner of this Philip Lim for Target bag!

 2.  My dogs are really funny sometimes. I saw them laying like this and it cracked me up!

3. So Jamie Dornan is the new Christian Grey. My thoughts? This is a better casting choice than Charlie Hunnam, but he's still not exactly what I had pictured.

4. My new Old Navy Jeweled Sweatshirt! The jeweled detailing is even prettier than what my iPhone could capture.

5. I've updated the Shop My Closet page with new fall/winter items (including this red chevron dress). Go check it out!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Look What I Got: Target Tweed Vest

Mossimo Vest, Shirt-Target (similar New York & Co Chambray Shirt for $20!), Pearls-Vintage, Pants-H&M (similar Old Navy Rockstar Jeans), Bow Flats-Gap Kids Outlet

I absolutely love my new Target Vest! I think it's a great JCrew herringbone vest look alike. Mine is tweed instead of herringbone, but it is very similar overall. You really can't beat the price of $34.99 compared to the JCrew version which retails for $108 (and selling for as much as $250 on eBay!).

PS The Shop My Closet Page has been updated with new items!

Leather, Burgundy, & Stripes

Xhilaration Cutout Dress (worn as skirt), Top-Forever 21 (similar Forever 21 Striped Tee), Jacket-Target (similar JCPenney Faux Leather Jacket), Necklace-Forever 21, Booties-c/o Andres Machado (similar Heeled Ankle Booties)

I decided to wear my Target Burgundy Dress as a skirt, since it's getting too chilly for the cut out. But the burgundy color is perfect for the fall so I'm still hoping to get plenty wear out of it. This look was inspired by an outfit from Wendy's Lookbook, minus the leopard.

Trying to find petite shoes is as challenging as finding the right actor to cast as Christian Grey. I wear a size 4, which is pretty much impossible to find in a store. I am thrilled that I discovered the Andres Machado brand (sold by alonai.com in the US). They have a huge selection of petite shoes sizes 2 to 5 at very reasonable prices. (They aren't paying me to say this, I just want to share with my fellow petites!).

PS I've added some fall/winter items to the Shop My Closet page!

Fall Fashion Trend: Plaid!

With the re-emergence of 90s grunge, plaid is here in a big way. Not just for button down shirts anymore, plaid is being found on everything from peplum to blazers. Personally, I like plaid when it's worn in a preppy and ladylike way so that you don't look like a lumberjack (Paul Bunyan is not a style icon). I love pairing mine with pearls or a rhinestone statement necklace to glam it up!

What's your favorite way to wear plaid?

Need some plaid inspiration? See how I wore my plaid shirt and faux leather leggings and my plaid shirt and faux fur vest outfit.

Black and White Striped Dress + Weekend

Dress-c/o Choies (similar ModCloth Table For Two Tone Dress), Shirt-H&M (similar LOFT Petite Button Down), Asos Leopard Print Belt (only $10!), Boots-Naturalizer (similar Steve Madden Candence Boots), Bag-Botkier

I last wore this black and white striped dress in the summer. I realized it would transition perfectly into fall for work with tights, boots, and a neutral color palette.

Oliver decided to wake me up at 7:45 am on Saturday morning. I call it the Olls Alarm. He just does not understand the concept of sleeping in on weekends.

Saturday night we had a date at Surf Taco, one of our favorite places.  I ordered my usual burrito, which has chicken and ranch dressing. I could eat this on a daily basis and never get sick of it!

High Five For Friday

1. I wore this outfit the other day when it was cloudy out...wearing bright colors cheers up a gloomy day!

2. I think my new monogram iPhone 5C Case matches perfectly with my Maybooks planner! I just can't get enough chevron and monograms!

3. Every night I tuck Oliver into "bed" (aka his crate) by putting his blankie over him. This photo just makes me smile no matter how many times I look at it! Further proof that puggles=happiness.

4. Since the Walmart Herringbone Vest I ordered didn't fit (it runs huge!), I got this Target Vest as a replacement. It's tweed, but I think it's a nice, cheaper alternative to the JCrew Herringbone Vest that has been all over the blogging community.

5. Is there anything better than chocolate chip cookies straight out of the oven? I think not!
