Friday's Fancies: Labor Day Outfit

I think this white eyelet dress with a cargo vest would be great for a Labor Day barbecue. I know some people believe you can't wear white after Labor Day, but I personally think that's a ridiculous fashion rule. I wear white year 'round!

Over the long weekend I'll be getting in as much beach time as I can. Labor Day may be the unofficial end of summer to some, but to me it's the start of the "local summer" at the shore. AKA all the tourists finally go home and I have the beach to myself!

Denim Vest and Dress

Denim Vest-Target (here on sale for $20!), Dress-Local boutique (similar),
Bag-Forever Tiff Couture (similar), Sandals-American Eagle

I wore this denim vest and dress outfit last month to the movies when I saw Wolverine. We usually only go to the movies when it's: a) something you just need to see immediately or b) a movie that will look better on the big screen. Otherwise, I just wait for the movie to come out on DVD and watch it from the comfort of my couch while eating my weight in ice cream/cookies/candy.

I'm now accepting September sponsors! This month I've decided to reduce the amount of spots available so that I can give each sponsor my fullest attention. Ads start at just $10. I'd love to help grow your blog or business!

Paige from Pink Lemonade + Giveaway!

Today I would like you to meet Paige, from the Etsy shop, Pink Lemonade. She makes the cutest accessories with a boho vibe! She also has a blog by the same name. We did a little Q&A session and she's got an awesome giveaway for you as well!

1. How did you come up with your blog/shop name?

I used to have lemonade stands a lot when I was younger, and my business was sort of a new chapter in my "entrepreneurial journey", so i though "pink lemonade" was fitting!
2.You have an Etsy shop with headbands, necklaces, and bracelets with a boho vibe...what inspires you when creating a piece?

I am inspired by everything…I love to look through magazines, shop at local stores, and read fashion blogs to get ideas for what people are doing with fashion right now. How are they wearing certain pieces? What would take their outfit to the next level? Another great place to find inspiration is thrift stores! You can see a variety of styles from every decade, and get ideas for what you could create with past styles in mind! I live and breathe fashion, so I am always soaking in inspiration!

3. What's been the hardest part of blogging? What's been the best?
The hardest part of blogging, for me, is coming up with new ideas for writing. I have started making a journal of blog topic ideas, so I can just grab the journal when I am feeling stumped. Another problem for me is not having enough photos! I love to include lots of pictures in my posts, because Iam a very visual person. I have been trying to take more pictures of my daily life, but I am very bad at remembering to do so. It's an ongoing struggle, but hopefully I will get there!

4. The one piece of clothing or accessory I can't live without is...

A comfy t-shirt! I am in love with t-shirts… you can dress them up or down, wear them plain, or with a cute necklace or scarf… the options are endless! In my book, the base for every great outfit is a t-shirt!
5. Describe your style in 5 words.

Simple, clean, earthy, second-hand, comfortable.
 6. You'll never catch me wearing...
Ripped up skinny jeans! no. never.

7. What's your go-to outfit? (aka what you put on when you can't think of what to wear)?
A nice t-shirt, my favorite jeans, some cute sandals, and a pretty necklace! That is my go-to outfit every time!

Now for the giveaway! Paige is giving away this adorable orange studded headband from her shop!

This versatile studded multi strand hippie headband is the perfect accessory to add a bit of sass to any hairstyle! This lovely headband is made from soft knit fabric and is so comfortable! Perfect for a day of shopping, a night on the town, or daily wear! Can be worn as a headband, belt, or as a wrap bracelet... how will you wear it?

Summer or Fall

Tank-Express (similar), Necklace-c/o The Rad Market, Maxi Dress worn as Skirt-Three Bird Nest (similar), Bag-H&M, Sandals-Target

A funny thing starts happening this time of year in the fashion blogging community. Many bloggers start wearing their fall clothes right now, despite the fact that it's still 80 or even 90 something degrees where they live. Not me. I will not be sweating my butt off in a sweater and boots when it's still the summer.

It drives me a bit nuts that every season is pushed well before it actually begins. I was in the supermarket yesterday and they actually had Halloween candy out already! Can't we just live for the moment? Personally, I'll be soaking up every last bit of summer and I'll be doing it wearing tank tops, shorts, and sandals for as long as I possibly can.

Have you broken out your fall clothes already?

High Five For Friday

1. The other day I did this polka dot and chevron manicure using a Sharpie marker. I think I have to get some more Sharpies for more nail art!

 2. Fortune cookie from last week's Chinese takeout.

3. Summer tv can be kinda crappy, but all summer long I've been watching Big Brother. As the weeks go by and more people get eliminated, the lies are starting to pile up! It's getting good.

4. The other night I made these Oven Baked Chicken Fajitas thanks to Pinterest. They came out really yummy and it was great for a night I really didn't feel like cooking. You just throw the ingredients into the oven and voila, dinner is done!

5.  I just ordered this cargo vest. It was originally $40, reduced to $15 plus an extra 15% off with code SAVBRAD for a total of $12.75! I'm sure I'll wear it like crazy this fall.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Look What I Got: Jewelmint New Jersey Necklace

Peplum Top-Aeropostale (similar), Lace Shorts-Target Girls (similar), Necklace-Jewelmint, Bag-c/o Massi, Sandals-American Eagle

Some may call Jersey the "armpit of America", but I beg to differ. I was born and raised in Jersey and lived here pretty much my whole life (with the exception of college and a few years in NYC). Not only is Bon Jovi my jam, but he's practically a neighbor. I recognize all the places on Jersey Shore (even if they are filled with guidos). I'm not afraid to speak my mind and be loud about it. (see this post!).

So, when I got a credit to Jewelmint thanks to a giveaway, I just  had to have this Jersey necklace. Proceeds from the necklace go to Hurricane Sandy relief, which I love. Even if you're not a Jersey girl, they have plenty of other states available with a charity attached to each one.

PS Enter the Target giveaway!

Please note: This post is in no way affiliated with Jewelmint. I just love this necklace and the cause it supports!

Summer Clearance Items

1 Sailboat Shorts ($7.97)
2 Chambray Dress ($9.78)
3 Sleeveless Blouse ($6.97)
4 Petite Maxi Dress ($10.48)
5 Striped Tee ($19.99)
6  Petite Maxi Dress ($10.48)

The end of a season is often the best time to get clothes on sale, as they are marked way down in order to move out the merchandise. Right now is a great time to hit up the clearance racks...they will be filled with summer clothes! You can get wear out of the items now since there's still plenty of summer left or stock up for next summer. Thinking ahead to fall? All three of the dresses could be worn through the fall season by adding a denim jacket, blazer, or cardigan with boots.

New Hope

Dress-Target (similar), Necklace-Brighthouse Baubles, Bag-Target (similar), Spiked Bracelet-c/o Estarer, Mint Bracelet-Brightouse Baubles, Sandals-Target

Saturday I wore this navy striped dress on our little day trip to New Hope, PA. The town is right on the border of NJ and PA, with beautiful views of the Delaware River. It's one of my absolutely favorite places to visit! We ate lunch outside, then walked around the many cute shops. I checked out the clothes in a bunch of vintage stores, but I didn't wind up taking anything home.  I did get a good laugh out of a purple furry coat from the 70s and some crazy high platform heels that probably would've made me average height. (I would've loved to take photos for you, but all the stores have a strict no photo policy. Whomp, whomp). We decided to treat ourselves to some fro-yo after trekking over the bridge from NJ to PA (definitely much longer than when you drive over it!).
