Summer Fun Steal & Contest with Chippmunk

Dress-c/o Chippmunk via Old Navy, Necklace-Brighthouse Baubles, Bag-H&M (similar),
Sandals-Target (similar)

The people at Chippmunk asked me to create a Summer Fun Steal using deals I found on their site. I put together this summer date night look using their Old Navy coupon page. There I found a 30% off coupon for this dress. Originally $24.99, I scored it for $17.49!

Chippmunk is giving away $600 in gift cards as part of their Expert Shopper Contest! There's three ways you can enter:
1. Share a photo showcasing your great deal and you could be one of 5 winners of a $100 gift card to the Chippmunk store of your choice! Upload via their website.

2. Share on Instagram or Twitter with hashtags #ChippmunkExpertShopper and #SummerFun. Answer: (a) how much you saved and where you got it (b) why you love it and (c) your advice to other shoppers at that store.

3. Pin your favorite steals to Pinterest with the hashtag #SummerFun and  #chippmunkexpertshopper. You could be one of 2 winners of a $50 gift card to the Chippmunk store of your choice!

PS Sponsor in August (till 8/4) and get September FREE! No promo code needed!

Jellys Are Back!

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Jelly Beans but all my opinions are my own.

Neon, denim jackets, crop tops and now...Jellys! Like the other 80s/90s trends that have recently made a fashion comeback, so have Jellys shoes. My inner 7 year old is psyched! I remember having a purple sparkly pair that I wore like crazy when I was younger.

Denim Vest-Target, Tank-Old Navy, Jeans-H&M (similar), Necklace-AE, Jellys-c/o Jelly Beans

I chose the Jelly Beans clear sparkles pair since they reminded me of the pair I wore when I was little! They come in a ton of different, clear, pink, red, blue, and all the neon shades you can imagine.

Need your own pair? Jelly Beans is now offering FREE shipping to the US! (They're an Australian company but no worries, the shoes will be shipping out from the US!). Be sure to follow them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, & Pinterest for the latest info!

High Five For Friday

Linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for

1. Thank you all for your sweet birthday wishes (especially the ones that said I looked younger than I am, ha!). My hubby got me this hilarious birthday card. It reads "your birthday cake is almost ready."

2. I'm going to the Haskell Stakes tomorrow as a VIP thanks to the people at America's Best Racing. I don't know anything about horse racing but I'm excited! Stayed tuned for more on this next week.

3. We're also planning to see The Wolverine this weekend. My hubby is obsessed with the first movie and who doesn't love Hugh Jackman? (There's already a lot of abs in this post and we're only at number 3!).

4.  Speaking of movies, Meet Jessica from Jeans and a Teacup! She just might show up in the next movie you watch and she's got amazing style!

"Hi! I'm Jessica from Jeans and a Teacup where I blog about fashion and my personal style from Los Angeles, California.  My day job is as an extra in TV shows and movies but I also love to shop like it's my job! I do have a budget though so I try to make the most out of my H&M, Forever 21 and Target finds. My sister, Megan, is the other half of Jeans and a Teacup.  She's currently in Denver, Colorado where she writes fun and reflective posts for the blog on Sundays.  We'd love for you to stop by and say hi!"

5. This week's new reality tv show I'm watching is Breaking Amish LA. A bunch of young Amish/Mennonite are leaving their communities behind to experience what "English" life is like in LA. I'm hoping it's just as good and juicy as the first Breaking Amish!
Have a great weekend!

Look What I Got: Hana Pro Flat Iron Review

I consider myself to be a bit of a flat iron connoisseur. My hair is naturally wavy, so the only way I can really get it straight is with a flat iron. At all times I like to have two flat irons in my possession, one that I use on the regular and an older one for backup. So when the people at Misikko asked me to review the Hana Pro 1" Flat Iron by Hana Salon, I was psyched!

I styled my hair first using Bumble & Bumble's Straight Blow Dry Cream and then dried it with my Hana Pro Air Hair dryer (reviewed here) before using the Hana Pro Flat Iron.

I was really excited to see how this professional hair straightener compared to my current flat iron. What I liked about it:

-Heat setting is adjustable from 140-450 degrees
-Swivel cord
-2 year warranty

Verdict: The Hana Pro Flat Iron did give me the sleek, straight look that I wanted. However, it took a bit longer to style than with my current flat iron. Next time I'll try it on a hotter heat setting to see if that does the cuts down the styling time.

PS Wishing a very Happy Birthday today to my sister, Alicia!

Birthday Dinner

Dress worn as Top-Lulu's (similar), Jeans-Old Navy, Belt-H&M (cute option), Bracelet-c/o Estarer, Bag-Forever Tiff Couture, Heels-c/o Oasap

This is what I wore to my birthday dinner on Monday night. I originally had a dress picked out, but I decided to wear this since it was raining and crazy humid. (I'm weird about wearing dresses in the rain...I feel like my legs get soaked).

We ate at one of my favorite restaurants, Old Man Rafferty's

I ordered my usual, the grilled veggie pizza.

But the main reason I wanted to eat here was for the amazing desserts. They are famous for their huge dessert case filled with every kind of cake you can think of. They even list the desserts first before the food in the menu!

My birthday means just one dessert was not enough!

29 for the 2nd Time

Today is my birthday! I've decided I'm turning 29 again, since 30 seems like a good age to no longer keep count. I've seen a lot of these 30 before 30 lists going around and I think it's kind of funny. It's as if life stops at 30, so you better get everything done before then. Have I accomplished all that I've wanted to? Absolutely not. And I'm totally okay with that. There's plenty of things I have accomplished by this age, like getting my master's degree, living in the greatest city in the world (NYC), and being able to sign LSW (Licensed Social Worker) after my name, just to name a few.

I'm going out to dinner tonight to celebrate, so you'll have to wait until later this week to see what I wore! Yesterday I had a little pre-birthday lunch with my family at the Mill Basin Deli in Brooklyn.
I feasted on a corned beef sandwich, potato knish, cole slaw, macaroni salad, and sour pickles. I'm still stuffed!

High Five for Friday

Linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for
1. We've been having yet another heat wave. It's been above 90 degrees since Sunday and it's not supposed to let up until this weekend, ugh!

 2.  Oliver wrapped up in his dog bed like a little furry burrito.

 3. This past weekend the hubs was up before me so he snuck out to the bakery and got us coffee cake for breakfast! There is nothing better than sugar in the morning.

4. I'm psyched to try out my new Hana flat iron but with this heat/humidity, it'll have to wait a few more days. My hair has been in a ponytail every single day.

 5. Speaking of hair, meet the beautiful Brittney from One & Twenty!
Oneand20 was originally started to document my journey back to my roots via embracing and accepting my natural hair. It has now transformed into a much larger excursion into accepting myself as I am and creating a vision of the life I want. It is an exploration of how parts of the world connect with parts of me - how I can craft a more meaningful life experience through freeing myself to be my own spirit.
