The Tiny Heart: In The Know

In The Know

Cardigan-Gap (similar), Top-Express (similar for $10), Necklace-Eclectic Ornaments, Skirt-Express (cute option), Flats-Gap Kids Outlet

When it comes to fashion, I think I'm "in the know". Lately I've been seeing stripes and floral pattern mixing all over Pinterest and on so many bloggers. I'd like to think I was slightly ahead of the curve when I wore a stripes and floral outfit last year.

But with certain things, I'm the last to get the memo:
  • Twitter: Finally joined last July, while I'm sure most 13 year olds had been on it for 5 years.
  • iPhones: Never had an iPhone 2, let alone the iPhone 5! Still got a Droid.
  • The Hunger Games: Never read the book or watched the movie.
  • Diets: I've never done "clean" eating, gone on a Paleo diet, or had something gluten-free. Unless it was by accident.
What trends haven't you gotten the memo on?

  10. I'm always behind on the trends. I just got an iPhone last year, but I was ahead of the curve for Twitter. Can't say I've mixed patterns though, so I guess I'm behind on that one!

  11. LOL, you're in the know about style! I still have a Droid too (and I love it) but I have an iPhone 4S for work. They both have their pros and cons. If you like to read, you should really check out the Hunger Games...I really enjoyed the series! I think the only thing I'm ahead of the curve on is statement necklaces. I've been rocking them for years!

  13. Love this color and the mixing of print and patterns!! I know what you are talking about being 'in the know' for somethings and not for others!! I am also a tail-ender when it comes to Hunger games, not in the know!! But yes, I mixed patterns last year too:-) So it is all good for us!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!

  14. I feel like as soon as I start joining one technology trend (like Instagram, Twitter)... another one is already on the market! I can't keep up! Cute pattern mixing :)

  15. haha, love this, I'm not on any social media except Facebook and in order to have instragram and twitter, you would most likely need a phone that has internet...which I do not. Yep, I'm still rocking it in the dark ages, where a phone is a phone. One day I will get my internet phone, but until then, I'll pretend that I have one :)

  16. I have a Droid! Nothing wrong with that, but you haven't read the Hunger Games? I may have to draw the line there, missy! You're lucky you are so darn cute! :)

  17. I love this outfit, Sharon!! You look fantastic!! I'm waay behind on the smart phone trend...I still have a phone that flips open and only has a number pad haha.

I was definitely behind on the smart phones, finally got mine last September. And you must read/watch The Hunger Games, I loooove it!!!

  22. Blue is a beautiful color on you. I'm usually behind on everything. As soon as I finally warm up to a trend and purchase something its over. Ah such is life.

  23. I've always liked stripes and florals, but I'm never worn them together. I'm had twitter about four years. I had the iPhone 3G for three years, then a Droid for 1.5 years, and then switched back to the iPhone 5. I've never read or watched The Hunger Games. I've never went on any kind of diet or did "clean" eating. I eat what I want! LOL!

  26. Hunger Games is on Netflix and you can watch it instantly (do you have netflix?)I read all the books but way after the fact. Just got a twitter account like 2 months ago so I'm definitely behind. That's okay. I refuse to do the Vine thing though. Ain't got time. I LOOOOOOVE this look!! So super cute!

  27. You are SO good at pattern mixing- love it! And I am apparently the last to get the memo on Snapchat-- I thought this was for like middle schoolers but apparently I am the only one I know who doesn't even at least have it downloaded?!

  29. LOL I have a Twitter, but I never use it. I got it for the blog and, well, other than my posts updating to it, I'm really not active on it. As you know, my family and I have been on the vegetarian thing for a couple of weeks now and we love it! But i get wrapped up in things like that all the time. I love your pattern mixing Sharon!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Haha I've never done a fad diet either! Love this color combo!

    ReplyDelete
  31. it is ok i haven't done a clean or paleo diet unless it was absolutely necessary. i don't have twitter and frankly have no desire to get it. but don't worry about being behind the fashion curve, you nailed it the mixed printing!!

  33. Although we eat pretty much healthy, there is also a side of not "clean" i shall say. I have a twitter account but not super posting all the time and I have not seen the movie nor read the book about the Hunger Games. I like the play with colors and prints. Wow no tights on a skirt, must be great day. You look cute as always.

  34. I'm with you on 3 out of 4. (I have read, watched, and loved, the hunger games). But I only just got an iphone literally 3 days ago. It's my first smart phone ever. I was using an 8 year old relic up until then :) I've also never done a diet (unless you count vegetarianism, but I don't), and yeah, it took me a while to get on the twitter train. Also to be noted, I've never seen Titanic, any of the Godfathers, or Gone With the Wind. I'm so cultured.

  38. Love the print mixing! Stripes and florals are my fave :-) And don't worry, you weren't the last to get the memo on twitter or iphones. I think I joined twitter in the fall but I still don't even have a smartphone which makes twitter kind of useless. I have to tweet from my computer (lame!)....haha.

  41. I think I am too trendy sometimes...but I never got into Twilight or any of the Harry Potter books/movies. Oh and I won't do the wedge sneaker thing. Which is weird because I love wedges in general but not on a sneaker.

  50. Twitter, I still don't understand it. I don't have a facebook account and I hate the camo pants trend. (The phone thing made me laugh, I still have my sad little flip phone from 2005. I think all it actual does is call but that's all I really need it to do. The husband just a got an iphone though and he loves it, all of the little different app are pretty awesome for his work.) Hah, I think I'm probably just behind the curve on everything. :P

I have to say, I love the cool blue tones in your outfit, that was so smart to pair the silver flats with it!

  51. Sharon! Looks like we have a lot in common (3 out of 4)! I do have an iphone but it's a ghetto 3Gs lol! This is such a great look on you! Mint is your color:)!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Haha, so many things! I like to feel like I'm hip and trendy but in the end I just wear what I want. And polka dots, still trying to jump on board there :)

I love the floral and this blue on you!

  53. Love how you did the stripes and floral prints!
I've definitely read all the Hunger Games and saw the first movie, can't wait for the second!! I'm trying to get my sisters to read them too, lol! One trend we have not been on the band wagon for is wearing pajamas out in public, apparently it's a new trend here in Atlanta, a no no for us! And reading 50 Shades of Grey.

  55. I still have a droid phone and I don't plan on joining the iPhone nation, I've also not done any fad diets, and Hunger Games, haven't read a description of a book or seen a movie. I also have never shopped in madewell or j crew [gasp]
