The Tiny Heart: Passover

Passover

Sweater-F21, Pearls-Vintage, Button Down-H&M, Jeans-Hollister, Bag-c/o Cuore & Pelle, Boots-Nordstorm

Tonight is the first night of the Jewish holiday Passover. For those that don't know, during this holiday you can only eat unleavened bread. Things like bread, pasta, cereal are banned. You think this would be easy, but you wouldn't believe how many foods contain wheat/yeast products. Plus carbs are basically my best friends so this holiday is not one of my favs! On the bright side, I'll be going to my parents' house tonight for the Passover seder. But I just might be going home hungry!

  12. I bet it is hard! I'm Catholic and during Lent we abstain from meat on Fridays. I never really knew how much meat I eat until trying to plan meals. And on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday we fast and abstain from meat. It isn't easy but it is good practice is learning how to deny myself.

  13. that would be really hard! we celebrate passover with my husband's side of the family, but since we aren't jewish ourselves don't follow that part of it. I'd have a hard time not eating carbs!

  17. Happy Passover! I would struggle without my carbs too! I wasn't feeling great for a little while a couple of months ago and was beginning to worry I might have to go gluten free and I was so freaked out about that! Thankfully that didn't have to happen!

    Love your layers!

  22. Yay...I celebrate Passover too. It used to be really hard but now since the world is so gluten-free friendly, there are a lot more options for us - don't you think? My birthday always fell during Passover when I was little so I always had really gross birthday cakes! :) Now, I look at it like a cleanse...I could use less carbs in my diet anyway!

    Happy Passover, Sharon!

  25. The girl that we had the baby shower for this weekend is Jewish and I never knew the actual meaning of Passover and she explained it all to me. We are watching the Bible series on TV right now and we just got finished with the episode that gives the meaning behind Passover. Super interesting and I love learning about other religions. Enjoy your time with family and boo for no carbs....but you can do it!!

  36. Interesting. How long do you have to do this? Hope you enjoy time with the family. I am Catholic and in Lenten season we are not to eat meat/chicken and eat less on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We can only eat fish on those days. I still eat a lot though, lol
