The Tiny Heart: Over The Top

Over The Top

Top-c/o August Wrinkle, Scarf-c/o FRAAS, Jeans-Old Navy, Tote-c/o Massi, Ankle Boots-Target

Three years ago yesterday was the day we got engaged. I think it's funny to watch these over-the-top proposals on The Bachelor where they're in a beautiful foreign county, the girl is in a designer evening gown, and they ride off on an elephant. Puh-lease. My proposal happened after we ordered in burritos for dinner and instead of a tropical locale, we were in his (now our) apartment. But that made it even more special to me.
Our own version of riding off into the sunset! Way cooler than an elephant, I think.

  8. Personally, I think personalized, special proposals are much better than some over-the-top Bachelor-esque event. Sounds like yours was perfect!

  12. I think a simple proposal is more meaningful too! Ours was in a parking lot at the zoo, so there you go!

  16. I love your tote! I also love the picture of you and your husband on the motorcycle :) I'm with you on realistic proposals. I'd lie if I didn't say the dancing/serenading one with friends on you tube didn't make me cry with joy, but the proposal has to fit the person and the relationship. My hubby proposed to me at dinner on his birthday, which fits who we are. :)

  17. aww love your story! the bachelor proposals (although i've never watched the show) are not real life. and it's more about the marriage/relationship anyways :)

  28. I just got my tote in the mail this week too! I got the red one and I am in love. So fun, right!? And my proposal was in our apartment too!!! Simple and private...no better way! ;)

  29. Aw, congratulations on your engagement anniversary :) I've never watched the bachelor before but your description sounds over the top *ridiculous*. I'd never want to ride an elephant after getting proposed to. And the question begs to be asked - does the woman stay in her designer gown on top of a smelly elephant? That doesn't sound kosher.
I like your version way better.

Your outfit is giving me delusions of spring. Maybe since it seems a little milder by you that means the spring wave is moving up the coast? I'm hoping for real spring weather to hit north Jersey any day now.

  30. So cute to hear your proposal story! Yes, I agree with you. The wedding can be over the top, but a proposal should just be between the couple. It's such a big moment, it should be private! The ceremony, etc, can be shared :)

  33. I love it. Those more personal proposals are way more special than those played out made for tv moments! The only thing I wish we had for ours was someone taking pictures of the moment so I could see my face.

BTW, that bag is fabulous and I want one now!
