Burgundy, wine, merlot, maroon. These are all names for the color I'm wearing that I prefer to say instead of oxblood. Who came up with that horrible name? Every time I see it, I can't help but think of oxen being slaughtered. Does PETA know about this? I hope not. I don't want to get paint or flour thrown at me just for wearing the color formerly known as burgundy.

Hahaha! I used to feel the same way when I first heard the term, however I think it actually applies to the color just deeper than burgundy.. so dark it's almost black. That's why I don't mind it anymore.. although it is still a little off putting! anyway, you look great in it, whatever you want to call it!

I hate the name, too! I call it burgundy usually
ReplyDeleteLife Unsweetened
I didn't even know that was another name that people used for the color burgundy. I guess I'm well behind the times, although it is a pretty awful name.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. It's so cute and perfect for fall!
Great fall outfit. I love animal print with oxbl.... maroon :)

I love this color but definitely don't love the word 'oxblood.' I'm a burgundy girl :-)
ReplyDeleteI know! It's so gross. We don't have to be creative with colors. Just call it what it is...

i love this outfit!! i have many similar and its the perfect office outfit for me! :)
ReplyDeleteI am with you! Oxblood is a stupid name for a color. I prefer to call it maroon if it's brownish, cranberry if it's pinkish. Either way, it's a great color on you:)
ReplyDeletei agree...do people think that sounds more chic to say oxblood? gross. but it looks great on you!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, yep, I don't care to call it oxblood either. I like saying wine, because who doesn't love wine? He he.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cute look, I love the vest with the buttonshirt - nice and preppy!
LOL, oxblood really is a gross name, but its the trendy name for burgundy right now? Do we really need another word for burgundy, wine, maroon? Probably not.

ReplyDeleteIt's still burgundy to me. I don't think I'd ever call it oxblood!
ReplyDeleteI also hate the name oxblood. I prefer maroon.

Haha, yeah I'm not a big fan of the name "oxblood" either. Is the blood of an ox a different color than the blood of a regular cow? Or any other mammal for that matter? Fashion color names are funny sometimes :) Anyway, I like this look, great layering!
ReplyDeleteLOL I totally agree! I won't call it oxblood either and that is EXACTLY the picture that goes through my mind too.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to call is wine :) Love the outfit!

Ohhh H&M. I love it. hahah. Hilarious about the ox blood comment. Why do they call it that?! That's terrible. I read online its the "Sophisticated and sexier version of deep-red." Bahaha. I guess maroon didn't sound sexy enough. :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha I hate the name oxblood too! But I do love the color! And your flats!!!
ReplyDeleteI prefer burgundy as well :) Much less horrifying! :) Love your outfit ^^ x
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteazorazina.blogspot.ca
haha! I feel the same exact way. All of a sudden this color gets a new name and now it's the hottest thing this season, as if it's some amazing new color the human eye has never seen before. It's kind of amusing.

(and don't worry, as an active member of PETA I can assure you that there are no plans being made to throw anything on anyone wearing maroon. Even if they're calling it oxblood) ;)

I know what you mean by the name! I'll just stick to something like burgundy, sounds yummier!
ReplyDeleteHah, I have to agree, oxblood is a terrible name! (I can just imagine the smell....) I love seeing how many outfit you wear these cute leopard flats with, they are so versatile!
ReplyDeleteHahaaa, I love the title of this post. What happened to those prettier, more friendly names? I love maroon, burgundy & wine. Oxblood - not so much.
ReplyDeleteAnyway great vest. I have similar sweater vests so you inspired me to try this look on my own. You look adorable.
Stop by & see what's new with me. Thanks Sharon.

I love your "oxblood" sweater vest! I don't know we have to rename ever color for ever season, guess it's just one of those marketing things. Because I mean, who wants to buy red pumps every year? If they have fun new names, perhaps that's more enticing :D

You are too cute! My favorite fall combo: the color formally known as burgundy + leopard! Love it lady!

Here&Now
I love the leopard print flats and the burgundy color! and yeah oxblood is a pretty weird name, I feel like there's a new name for burgundy every year even though the color looks the same.
ReplyDeleteYes, I much prefer the words burgundy, wine, and merlot to oxblood! Much less gruesome!
ReplyDeleteLove your burgundy vest. That is such a cute look. I have a pair of leopard flats that I haven't worn. I may have to steal this look from you :)
