The Tiny Heart: Formerly Known As

Formerly Known As

Button Down-H&M (similar), Top-Express {old}(similar), Pants-H&M Kids(similar), Flats-Target(similar)

Burgundy, wine, merlot, maroon. These are all names for the color I'm wearing that I prefer to say instead of oxblood. Who came up with that horrible name? Every time I see it, I can't help but think of oxen being slaughtered. Does PETA know about this? I hope not. I don't want to get paint or flour thrown at me just for wearing the color formerly known as burgundy.

  1. Hahaha! I used to feel the same way when I first heard the term, however I think it actually applies to the color just deeper than burgundy.. so dark it's almost black. That's why I don't mind it anymore.. although it is still a little off putting! anyway, you look great in it, whatever you want to call it!

  4. I didn't even know that was another name that people used for the color burgundy. I guess I'm well behind the times, although it is a pretty awful name.

I love this outfit. It's so cute and perfect for fall!

  14. I am with you! Oxblood is a stupid name for a color. I prefer to call it maroon if it's brownish, cranberry if it's pinkish. Either way, it's a great color on you:)

    ReplyDelete
  15. i agree...do people think that sounds more chic to say oxblood? gross. but it looks great on you!!

  16. LOL, yep, I don't care to call it oxblood either. I like saying wine, because who doesn't love wine? He he.

This is a really cute look, I love the vest with the buttonshirt - nice and preppy!

  17. LOL, oxblood really is a gross name, but its the trendy name for burgundy right now? Do we really need another word for burgundy, wine, maroon? Probably not.

  21. It's still burgundy to me. I don't think I'd ever call it oxblood!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Haha, yeah I'm not a big fan of the name "oxblood" either. Is the blood of an ox a different color than the blood of a regular cow? Or any other mammal for that matter? Fashion color names are funny sometimes :) Anyway, I like this look, great layering!

  23. LOL I totally agree! I won't call it oxblood either and that is EXACTLY the picture that goes through my mind too.

  70. I love your "oxblood" sweater vest! I don't know we have to rename ever color for ever season, guess it's just one of those marketing things. Because I mean, who wants to buy red pumps every year? If they have fun new names, perhaps that's more enticing :D
