One of my fashion rules I have is not to mix brown and black. Even my (sometimes) fashion challenged husband knows if he's wearing a brown belt, he can't wear his black shoes. However, I have now found the exception to this rule: leopard print. Why? Both colors are already built into the pattern.
I can now wear black and brown together without feeling like Joan Rivers would nominate me for Worst Dressed on Fashion Police.

Haha, I know what you mean. Although I do like to wear my black tights with my brown oxfords. But leopard print totally breaks the rule. Cute look!

love the stripes and leopard together! so cute!
ReplyDeletei dont usually like black & brown together either, but its growing on me, and you do it so nicely! love that your scarf coordinated with your shoes too, perfect!
ReplyDeleteSharon, that's so funny my teenage daughter also lives by that same rule. She also loves leopard print so tonight I will make a point to tell her how black and brown are all in the same print..lol
ReplyDeleteDayi
I concur with a few exceptions, leopard print being one of them. Also... black dress with brown shoes with the right dress and right boots. One of my friends who is probably more fashion challenged then your boyfriend (I know mean- ha-ha but she could go on what not to wear, and she hates the show because I they are "to mean" to the contestants telling them not to do what she does) once wore like light brown boots with a dressy hooker dress...(probably an Express dress) that's NOT okay. BUT I think a dark brown boot with a work appropriate dress or a t shirt dress is a nice look! :) I love is outfit you got on. I saw this on pinterest as well! I need to do this now!

I am a serial brown and black rule breaker! :-S I got it in my head last year that it was ok when so many people were pairing black leggings with brown riding boots and i just ... can't ... stop. I LOVE that sweater, and think it looks so great with that scarf!
ReplyDeleteHaha Bonnie! I've seen a lot of people wear that too and I think it looks really cute. I just don't know if I can bring myself to do it without feeling like I'm clashing!

You do have to be careful when mixing black and brown, but leopard is perfect!! Love this pattern mixing too!
