The Tiny Heart: Fall in Summer

Fall in Summer

Top-F21 (similar), Scarf-Target (similar), Jeans-A&F, Boots-Hunter Kids, Crossbody Bag-Coach, Bicycle-Neighbor's!

Lately there's been a bunch of controversy in the blogosphere (discussed here on Shamepuff) over bloggers wearing fall clothing when the temps still are rising. Everyone is just obsessing over the new fall trends in stores, wearing boots, sweaters, scarves, and eating pumpkin baked goods. Well, FYI, summer is not over. In fact it's not over till Sept. 21, a good few weeks away.

Are we supposed to suffer in warm clothes when it's actually sweltering outside, just because fall fashion is in stores now? I can't even wear pants without sweating if it's over 78 degrees, so I can guarantee you won't see me in fall clothes unless it feels like fall outside. I'm wearing a scarf in these photos because it was actually cold out, not because I'm trying to push the seasons. The minute it goes back to being warm, you'll see me in summer clothes again.

This is real life, not a fashion editorial.

  1. Haha! I saw that too on Shamepuff. I'm not gonna lie I love Fall so much that sometimes my outfits towards the end of summer are the result of some wishful thinking. Luckily, it's so cold in my office that wearing layers is smart these days! I love you stripes and polka dot pattern mixing. Cute look!!

  11. I'm with you! I cannot even think of wearing layers or sweaters until it's actually cool out, especially since I walk to my office everyday. I get all sticky and gross doing that in shorts in August!

It still gets in the mid 90's in VA and although I could wear a cute blazer to work (so i won't become a popsicle) I still can't justify layering. I love your transitional look :-)

  25. I just read the Shamepuff article and though I agree to a certain extent, I think it's complete crap that people call out other people like that. It infuriates me. It's rude, wrong and quite frankly pisses me off. I think these articles are the reason so many bloggers don't want to do outfit posts...they are afraid of the shitty criticism that mindless people put out there. Let's be constructive, not jerks. Rant over. BTW, you look cute, Sharon. Digging the polka dots and stripes. ;)

    1. Thanks Shanna! I do think some of Shamepuff is funny and pokes fun at how ridiculous some fashion trends are (even if I engage in them myself!). Some of it can be seen as rude, but when we're putting ourselves out there in such a public way, it does make us vulnerable to criticism unfortunately.

I will be wearing my summer clothing until it's too cold out to wear it. The only thing is I actually wear a cardigan or light weight jacket to work everyday even in the summer because the air conditioning is insanely cold in my office, so I sort of feel like I always dress for cooler weather.
