The Tiny Heart: Curb Your Dog

Curb Your Dog

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you know about my "interesting" neighbors (also here). Well, I've got another one to add to the list! There's a trashtastic older man that lives down the block that's been on my case since I moved here about cleaning up after my dogs. Totally unwarranted, since I'm a responsible owner and always clean up.

Sunday my hubby was walking Jinx and the man yelled at him for letting Jinx pee in front of the apartment building. The hubs asked him if he speaks dog, and if he did, then he could tell Jinx not to pee there. Obviously the man didn't like that response and started screaming about curbing your dog. They argued for a bit and the hubs told him if he said ONE word to me, then he was going to have issues.

Sandals-Target (similar)

But nope, later when I walked Oliver, the man had the nerve to say the SAME thing to me. And then, he tried to take a photo of me and Oliver with his cell phone! (why, I have no idea, because we weren't breaking any laws). So I got into it with him. I might be tiny, but I've got quite a big mouth. Oliver chimed in and barked at him too. I told him he better back the hell off or Olls would bite him. His psycho baby momma then told me she'd pray for me because I'm "an evil sinner."

How do you deal with crazy neighbors?

  15. Oh man, I don't know what I would have done. We live in a very dog friendly neighborhood, but I still managed to have the craziest lady next door. Everyday she was complaining that I wasn't picking up the dog poop on the side yard and that she had to shut her door cause of the smell. I told her I pick up the poop EVERYDAY when I get home and that I will sit my dogs down and go over pooping protocol. Not my fault that my dogs have to poop during the day while I'm at work and your sitting your ass on the couch. I told her the next time I get a nasty note or she screams at me, I'm calling her landlord and making a complaint with the police. I'm not going to sit around and get verbally abused because my dogs relieve themselves while she's "enjoying the breeze".

  17. I didn't think dog pee was illegal. One of my neighbors has a girlfriend with a teeny tiny little dog. She never cleans up the teeny tiny poop. I have another neighbor that continually blames me. I have an 85 lb shepherd. She does not make teeny tiny poop. The neighbor has complained to the management company about the poop, but they know it's not me as a result of the size. The last time the lady came outside to yell at me I said, "If you think my dog made that poop, you have larger problems than dog poop, because you are a moron."

  20. Oh man, we have an awful neighbor to the south of us and pretty much my hubby gives him one warning for things and then if he doesn't stop what is bugging us, we call the police. It's a nightmare. But I feel bad because I think the guy is sick now, so I'm trying to cut him some slack, but seriously.

  21. First, you look super adorable in this outfit, I love those shorts. Second, your neighbors are CRAZY. We used to live in a 2 family house and our neighbor/landlord was crazy too. He would let his daughter build a snowman on our side of the driveway so that when we got home from work, we had no where to park. Crazy. Fortunately, we have since moved into our own house and our neighbors are all relatively nice!

Almost the same thing happened to me yesterday, not quite as bad though. I was walking my dogs and one had stopped to pee then as we started walking all I hear is this man (who is a neighbour) yell "Are you going to pick that up!?" Like really!? She didn't poo!! Some people just want to be jerks to everyone about everyone. How exhausting would that be to be miserable about everything. Sorry to rant on page stuff like that makes me super mad though :s

  26. yes, dogs peeing makes you an evil sinner, obviously. people are crazy about that. i had a similar thing happen to me. a lady came out and asked us not to let our dogs go to the bathroom in her yard because she liked it clean. i just didnt even know what to do because it was mean words in this very nice tone. i stared dumb struck. later i realized that people seemed to aim for her yard with their dogs because she did this so much.

my neighbors are the opposite. they dont leash or collar their dogs and they ALWAYS run after my dogs. one time i opened my apartment door, and my neighbors dogs happened to be coming out too. they ran into my apartment and peed and pooped everywhere in the kitchen and he couldn't get control of them at all. terrible.

anyhow - at least you looked cute while this was going on! i guess if he was taking a photo - maybe it was because he thought you were cute :P but seriously, i love this shade of blue on you - it's very becoming

  27. Sharon! These neighbors sound like a total nightmare! I don't have neighbor issues so I am not sure that I have great advice but I think standing up for yourself and your dog's right to pee where he wants is the best way to handle these people!
