The Tiny Heart: Down in the Dumps

Down in the Dumps

Top-Old Navy (available in store, similar here), Shorts-Rampage (similar), Heels-Andres Machado, Necklace-c/o Amourx, Clutch-Vintage (similar)

Lately I feel like everything is going wrong and I can't catch a break.

First, it started with both of our cars breaking in the same week. I had to miss a day of work, which also means I missed a day of pay. After one car was fixed, it had to go right back to the shop because the mechanic didn't do it right.

Then, there was yet another incident with another neighbor (see here) over dog poop. It's a long story, but this neighbor wound up going after my husband with a broken wine bottle on my birthday. Luckily another neighbor called the cops before anything bad happened. But the cop for some crazy reason didn't arrest the guy and my husband wound up in the police station (thank god he didn't get arrested).

And to top it ALL off, last night Oliver decided to pee all over the laptop, which was on the kitchen table. And this was not just a tinkle, I'm talking an ocean worth of pee. Oh, and he also decided to pee all over the mail basket. Apparently Oliver thinks I spend too much time on the computer blogging and thinks the mail basket should be more organized. The laptop is currently being dried out in hopes that it can be salved, but I don't have much hope. In the meantime, I'm using my old Mac from college, circa 2001.

What do you do when you're feeling down?

  2. It's tough because these things always seem to happen at once. And they can be little things too in the grand scheme of things, but having them at one time can be really hard.

In any event, I have found that the bad times ALWAYS pass, and there is usually nothing that a good night's sleep and a hot shower can't cure ;).

  17. Aw, Sharon :( I'm sorry to hear all of that. Your neighbor sounds like a real charmer. I can't believe the cop didn't arrest him. But it sounds like this guy will land himself in jail one way or another eventually anyway.
I say, first be grateful that you have a wonderful hubby to share your blues with, then cuddle up on the couch with him, bake yourself something delicious, and watch a funny movie. That usually helps for me.
Oh, and get as many compliments as you can because that feels pretty nice, too. I'll start you off - you look freaking beautiful in that outfit! Honestly, I think it's one of my favorites that I've seen you in! The necklace is perfect, too. Gorgeous.

(All it needed was a smiple hose, but it was 50 below out and the husband didn't want to do it without being a a shop, so we sent it to a local car repair shop and FOUR weeks later, we finally got the car back, but with a new dent, a mirror missing, huge scratchs and the electrical work was all screwed up! 73. I'm SO sorry to hear that!!! When I'm down in the dumps, I honestly like to go to the bookstore alone and read some uplifting self-help books. I'm a nerd like that...

  81. Bessie sent me over here since I just posted about my worst week ever as well {and I even forgot about my tax issues when I was posting}. I hope things get better for you, and you are able to get what you need off your laptop - sometimes they work for a bit after they dry out, you just can't trust that it will keep working.

I hope we both have a better week. :)

  88. i would just about die if both of our cars broke in the same week! we replaces ours in the same year (his electrical system went and while it was drivable, it wasn't really doing its job too well, and mine had too many repairs to make it to pennsylvania and back). that is the WORST. i'm so sorry. AND HE PEED ON YOUR LAPTOP!?!?! i'd DIE. like me and the dog would be in a fight. you win the worst place a dog has ever peed contest, hands down!

anyyyhooowww at least your outfit is super cute! i love those shorts! simple well fitted black shorts are hard to find i think - and these fit you so well!

  107. Oh My!!! I missed out on a maelstrom of events... Well, let's see?!?! I bury my head in the sand, wait for time to tick by and hope that when I resurface all is well! Really, no, but wanted to give you a giggle.
I've had days, weeks and even month where things were going so badly that I even wondered if someone had a voodoo doll of me and was somewhere hovering over some boiling potion sticking pins into it...
I don't know if it's the way of the universe or just that these sort of things (bad luck?) string together but they usually seem to just dissipate. Literally!
Have heart my friend. My mother says that "our worst happenings turn into our funniest memories"...
Hope that is true in your case, at least to some degree.
