The Tiny Heart: Dogs in Sweaters

Dogs in Sweaters

Growing up, I always wanted a dog. My sister was allergic and so, the only pets we had were goldfish. But let's face it, they're really not a good substitute for dogs.

I dreamed about taking my dog for long walks, playing fetch with him, and cuddling on the couch. And in all these scenarios, my dog wore a sweater. (Naturally, my dog would be fashion forward).

So, when I saw this dog sweater in Petsmart, it felt like it was meant to be. Oliver gets to rock the colorblock trend alongside me and best of all, my dream of having a dog in a sweater finally came true.

    1. Thanks! I can't buy those toys...Jinx has jaws of steel and can pretty much chew through anything. He gets bones only. Oliver likes to destroy tennis balls :)

  7. If people tell you dogs in sweaters are dumb, tell them that the ASPCA says small and short haired dogs SHOULD wear sweaters in the winter. Yes, I actually got an email from the ASPCA discussing the necessity of dog sweaters.

    1. Haha I believe it! When it's really cold out, Oliver will actually shake if I don't put a sweater/coat on him. Just because they're dogs doesn't mean they don't get cold too.

  12. Such a cutie and I meant both you and your doggie. Striking color-blocking duo! I have a goldendoodle and I would love to find him a cute sweater but cute dog outfits don't make it big enough for my dog.

Thanks for dropping by my blog!.

    1. Thanks! My other dog, Jinx, weighs 70 lbs and I'd love to find him a sweater but they're never big enough for him either. The big dogs lose out on the dog clothes :(

  13. HAHA Sharon!!! Oliver is just too cute with his Martha Stewart sweater. I did the same thing when I had pets. When I had a goldfish, he lasted one day. I think the pH was off. LOL LOVE your outfit! That yellow and blue is gorgeous!

    1. Thanks Kim! Our goldfish died while we were on vacation...apparently it got too hot in the house or something and killed them. And that was the end of my pets till I got the dogs as an adult.

  27. Bahaha, that is hilarious! My pup has a quilted cape-y thing that she wears on cold days and it makes her look like an armadillo super-hero detective. She loves it though - but we get a few stares when we're out though, because at 45lbs, she's a bit big for a regular clothing-wearing pup.

    1. Haha Lisa, that sounds adorable! I think I'm going to need to see a photo of your dog looking like an armadillo. :) Jinx is 70 lbs and we have a coat for him. I think bigger dogs look just as cute in clothes as the little dogs!
