The Tiny Heart: Navy Lace + Purple

Navy Lace + Purple

 Cardigan-Abercrombie Kids, Button Down-H&M, Skirt-Express, Socks-Target, Boots- Bakers, Necklace-American Eagle, Watch-Michael Kors

I have a confession to make. I shop in the kids' section. As a petite, my biggest challenge in shopping is finding clothes that fit. Sometimes kids' clothes will fit me better than women's clothes because I'm so tiny. This is especially true with pants since I have shorter legs. Plus, it saves me tons of money. The cardigan in this outfit came from Abercrombie Kids and it looks identical to their womens' version, with smaller proportions and a smaller price tag.

I usually have to do my kids clothes shopping alone. My hubby despises it when I'm in the dressing room at a kids' only store since he doesn't know what to do with himself while he waits. It's obvious he's not there to shop for himself and he doesn't have a child with him. He swears the mothers are giving him the evil eye, as if they think he's a dirty old man for being alone in a kids store. Not the case, but it's just easier if I don't bring him along!

  1. No shame in shopping in the kid's section :) You look so cute in that skirt!

  2. I'm short, but not slim enough to shop in the straight up kids' section, but I do frequent the juniors' section. Once I can draw myself away from the sequins and tutus, I find some pretty cheap basics.

  4. i've been known to snag a few things in the kid's department, too! but the worst was when i went to the beach and was wearing the same bathingsuit (bottom only, tho) as a toddler...yikes!

love the layering of your cardigan over the satin shirt.

    1. Haha oh no! It is kinda weird when shopping in the kids section and a kid in elementary school is picking out the same item as me. :)

  6. I can borderline fit into kids clothing. Tops are OK because I have like no boobs, but I do have big shoulders. Bottoms fit in the inseam but I need more room for the bum. Strangely what drives me bonkers are kids jewelry - specifically Crewcuts. Sometimes they have some really cute items but for some reason they make their bracelets teeny tiny, and I can't get them over my apparently giant claws.

    1. I will occasionally buy tops from the kids section but it's mostly pants for me since my legs are so short. The kids skinny jeans don't always fit over my thighs though! I'll have to check out the Crewcuts bracelets. I have ridiculously small wrists and almost never wear bracelets since I can never find ones that fit.

  9. haha love that story! I understand what you mean about the pants issue, I have so much trouble finding pants long enough for me (I'm 5'0"). Usually I can get away with buying capris and passing them off as pants. lol ;)

    Great outfit!

  10. Awww...your husband is a trooper and so sorry he gets dirty looks from Moms! I've read on lots of other petite blogs that the ladies do shop in the kid's section. Nothing wrong with that! Honestly, if something fits you nicely then that's half the battle!

  13. Haha! I love that you can find some items in the kids section. How great that you can save some $$...but I could also see how it would be a little annoying sometimes to walk amongst the kid racks :-)
    LOVE this outfit...very cozy!

  17. Those boots are so cute, love the fact that they look ruched and like they have fallen down. Love the socks underneath. Great match for that mini-skirt. I dig this outfit. I understand the fact that you shop at a kids' store since you are so tiny.
