The Tiny Heart: 2012

New Year's Eve

It's been years since I've gone out for New Year's Eve and gotten dressed up and this year is no different. I'll be at home, eating greasy finger foods, drinking cheap champagne, and hoping I make it up till midnight to see the ball drop. There's a very good chance I won't since: a) I'll be at work today and b) midnight is way past my bedtime.

Happy New Year!

High Five for Friday: Christmas Edition

Linking up with From My Grey Desk for:

1. My elderly clients kept giving me chocolates for gifts. I got another two bags after I took this photo. I love chocolate, but even I can't eat all this!

2. Candy cane nails.

3. We started Christmas morning with cinnamon rolls for breakfast. They were not homemade, but they were still delicious!

4. The hubs and I decided we weren't going to exchange gifts this year, but the puppies didn't get the memo. And they used electric tape to wrap the gifts.

 5. Ice box cookies for Christmas dessert.

6. I tormented Jinx and Oliver just a little bit for these photos. (Oliver was not having it and I could only get the antlers on while he was sleeping). Don't worry, they got new tennis balls for their troubles!

Hope you have a great weekend!

The holidays are over, the gifts have been unwrapped, and well, Santa made some boo-boos in the gift department. And I guess he was pretty confident since he didn't include gift receipts. Major gifting faux-pas! (Santa, please just get me gift cards next year!).

So what's a girl to do? Should I:

a) Attempt to return the gifts, sans receipt, for store credit? (This option is iffy since it may not work and I'm not sure I want anything else from these stores).

bRe-gift the items

c) Try to sell them on eBay

What are you doing with your unwanted gifts?

Since I can only wear this shirt one day a year, I decided I'd be over-the-top festive for Christmas. I figure even if I look nuts, there will always be someone out there in an ugly Christmas sweater with antlers on their head that looks even more ridiculous than I do. (yes, I draw the line at antlers. I am not a reindeer).

Come back on Friday for a special Christmas edition of High Five for Friday to see more holiday photos!

Tomorrow is my first blogiversary! (I'm posting about it today since: a) I don't usually blog on Saturdays and b) just in case the world really does end). A year ago, I started reading fashion blogs on Pinterest and thought, "hey, I could do that."  (Note: it's not wise starting a fashion blog in the middle of winter when you live in the Northeast!).

My style has changed so much thanks to you guys and your amazing fashion sense. I started wearing things I never thought I'd be caught dead in, like colored denim, mixed patterns, and leopard.

My most commented on outfit of the year was this nautical look:

I also told stories of my crazy neighbors: the Craigslist hooker, the old man that fought with me over dog poop, and the animal abuser. (yes, it is time to move).

The best part of blogging? All of the wonderful new friends I've made. I never knew when I started this blog that it would open the door to so many friendships, both here in Jersey and far, far, away. So thank you guys for reading this little blog of mine...I love you all!

Here's to another year of blogging!

Tuesday was the hubby's birthday. (yep, his birthday is exactly one week before Christmas). Usually this means I am going nuts trying to come up with twice the gifts, but luckily we decided not to do holiday gifts this year.

We celebrated by ordering Chinese food, renting the movie Ted, and baking chocolate chip cookies. The hubs consumed an entire tray. (we're talking 10-12 cookies). Sure, he's one year older but he has still has the sweet tooth of a child!
